Each cub exudes innocence and vulnerability, yet within their composed postures and watchful eyes, there is a hint of hidden strength and fierceness. Their act of quenching their thirst at the water’s edge represents not only primal survival instincts but also the familial and communal connections that unite the pride.

Through a brief yet impactful portrayal of maternal courage, Heike honours the unwavering strength of motherhood and the enduring resilience of wildlife. During a game drive in Maasai Mara, Kenya, Heike witnessed a giraffe defending her young calf from lionesses. The mother bravely confronted the lioness, allowing the calf to escape to safety.
