Old Drift Lodge Zimbabwe
Nestled on the bank of the mighty Zambezi River a few kilometres up from Victoria Falls you will find the little piece of paradise that is the Old Drift Lodge. Being just outside of the town itself is more relaxing and a great way to start or end a safari itinerary.
The spacious tents are super comfortable with their own deck, a private plunge pool a free-standing bath which can be filled to the brim with bubble bath on request! The Lodge itself is about the same size as the Pangolin Chobe Hotel, with only room for thirty guests, and the similarities don’t stop there as they also feature a sunken fire pit in the main dining/lounge area.
The food at Old Drift is fantastic with the chefs utilising lots of ingredients grown on site to their traditional African dishes. Expect to sample local specialities like Sadza aka The African Polenta. All meals and drinks are included (except for premium spirits). The Lodge can organise a guided tour of the Falls but make sure you take some US dollars for the par entry fee (around $30) as this can’t be paid in advance. The lodge also offers game drives in the nearby Zambezi National Park as well as sunset cruises on the river. One must do activity while in Vic Falls is the helicopter flight over the Falls.
This is best early in the morning or late afternoon. Again, this can be arranged at the lodge but it’s advisable to book in advance to stand a better chance of getting a decent timeslot. If you are keen to do this and haven’t booked already, we will be happy to do so for you.
