Buddy Eleazer is an avid adventurer, conservationist, teacher, and outdoor photographer whose photography celebrates the African landscape and its rich wildlife, people, and culture.
Since Buddy’s first trip to Chobe National Park, Botswana, in 2006, he has enjoyed sharing that passion for African wildlife with others by leading group trips and small workshops in Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, and Kenya. Beyond Africa, Buddy leads photo excursions to other locations, including Yellowstone National Park in winter and bird photography in Florida.
While wildlife is now of primary photographic interest, Buddy comes to nature photography with a long background in landscape photography. This history has led to a style that blends landscape and wildlife, creating images with a strong sense of place.
Buddy’s favourite times to photograph are the edges of daylight when the lighting can be dramatic, allowing for creative uses of that light with techniques such as rim lighting and strong side lighting of subjects.
During these low-light times, Buddy is also a master of slow shutter speed pan-action photography to convey motion and add action to images. Whether shooting the landscape or more intimate wildlife compositions, Buddy is looking for storytelling images with impact.
